Inlet Mixed Bag – Sea Trout, Sheepshead and Red Drum

Headed out with a couple of forum buddies to do a little Trout hunting this morning. We got out to a spot that has had decent fish recently and went to work. The fish were definitely there. We were catching the Trout hand over fist, the problem was that they were dinks. We caught at least 30 Trout but nearly all of them were small. We got a few decent fish but nothing special. I did manage a perfect 26 inch Red while we were there at least.

Soon we were out of Live Shrimp and we decided to head for the Inlet to pick up a few Sheepshead to close out our day. The Inlet was the dirtiest I've seen it in a long time. Both of the inside rock lines had milky brown river water. We didn't have high hopes but we tried anyway. The bite was slow but we did manage to pick up a fish here and there until we got 8 and decided to call it a day.

We were using Slip Corks and live Shrimp for the Trout in the morning. I found a spot with a good depth change, moving water and shell bottom. The average depth that we found them was about 7-10 feet. The Sheepshead were in deeper water today averaging about 10-15 feet. We were fishing the rock piles further out away from the main rows. The shallow rocks were completely dead. The water temp is still holding at 63 degrees.
