Like the title suggests, we've been on a hot Bull Red bite. The struggle is definitely real, just ask Billy Clide and crew. You may recognize him from the TV show "Fishing The Flats".
I received a phone call from him this week looking to link up. Him and several other captains were up here loading up the roe Mullet and wanted to take a minute to pop some cherries. Ever heard of 20-30 personal bests in 1 day? There were 7 captains in the group and through the course of about 4 hours, close to 40 Bulls were landed with every fish being bigger than the previous. These boys were fired up. Other boaters could hear victory shouting from across the inlet. Booze was definitely a contributing factor! There were many triple hookup's, and even a couple quad hookup's. Double up's were the standard with little to no single hookup's.
The numbers were insane sure, but the real story is in the shear size of these brutes! 46+ inchers one after the other!? I've been at this a long time and I've only seen 1 other trip where the fish were like this. This just doesn't happen, and sure as heck not in December! This was a trip none of these boys will forget. They headed back to their home waters in Tampa with plenty of hangovers and sore arms.
