SLOT REDS FOR DAYS – Plus a little Holloween fun with Outdoors360 11-01-15

It's been a productive couple of weeks! Lots of options to target right now with the Fall weather pattern taking place. The Sheepshead are definitely biting. The Inlet convicts have started chewing and the Blennies have thinned out quite a bit. The Slot Reds are chewing VERY well right now at both the Little and Big Jetties. The Bull Reds have emptied out of the river and are officially done spawning. The good news is they are a year round species for us and the Inlet is where you'll be finding them from this point on through early June.

I got the opportunity to do a little fishing of my own for a change. Rob Chapman of Outdoors360 reached out to me last week about doing some Bull Red fishing. I'm a firm believer in marketing through social media so this was a no brainer. The idea was to have him pose with a few Bulls in a costume for a Halloween themed post on the Outdoors360 Instagram and Facebook page. The trip went well but dang, there were some confused looks coming from the other fisherman around us. Rob came out dressed as a 70's gym coach.... Short, tight, gym shorts, knee high striped socks, the tightest polo shirt ever made and a 70's porn star mustache. Oh and we can't forget the old fold up Ray Bans and whistle lol. Now imagine this guy being flamboyant and busting out Power Ranger stances on the bow.... Anyways, we had a blast. Caught a bunch of fish and got some interesting pictures. After 4 or so fish he broke out a change of clothes and cut off the mustache with his electric clippers. He wanted to get a few fish while in normal clothes. We made it happen and got some really slick sunset shots of Rob with a big Bull.

The day before, I had an old neighbor that moved down to Miami come up for a visit. His brother heard about our Sheepshead fishery and wanted to get in on some herding. We found a heck of a lot of them in the Inlet. Most were too small to keep but we did get 13 keepers. We landed well over 40 fish in all and the action was none stop. Afterwords, we decided to round out the day with some Slot Reds. We caught 8 Keepers in an hour. After putting several in the live well, we ran out of space and called it a day.
