TROUT AND REDS – Continued success throwing Rapala XRaps

It's been a fun couple of weeks! The Trout bite is insane. They threw me through a loop for a minute though. The full moon drove them away from my usual spots. Me and my partner in crime, Jonathan, worked over a dozen different locations trying to find the Trout schools. We worked the water in each spot by throwing 2 different style baits, a Slayer SSB bouncing the bottom and a Rapala XRap for the upper and middle column. This way, we can work an area quickly and still be thorough. Once we would pick up a fish, I would stopped the TM, hit the Spot Lock buttom, and fish the spot out. Once you find one, there's always another.

We repeated this for a few hours before finally picking up the first Gator Trout of the day. After that, we were getting nailed on every cast. There were a lot of hooks being pulled with our lures seeing better days. They were way past due for new treble hooks. You definitely don't want to get lazy and let wore out hooks ride like we did. We lost some really nice Trout. Especially Jonathan lol. He was getting jipped left and right at one point. There is nothing worse than losing a potential fish of a life time, especially when it can be avoided.

The Bull Reds are fired up in the inlet. We picked up 8 or so in a matter of an hour on a charter this weekend. Everyone picked up a personal best. Some of them got multiple PB's. The Blue Crab were the bait of choice. The most consistent tide to target them in the Inlet right now is the last half of the out going. Inside the South row at an average depth of 45 feet has been the ticket. They were averaging around 35 inches. A few were closer to 40 but no giants. The bigger ones will be around the Little Jetties in 2 more months.
